I am a landscape painter juxtaposing color in pastel to create the illusion of light.

Just like putting away summer shorts and tshirts and getting out the winter coats and sweaters, it's a good idea to clean out your plein air pastel box and start fresh. Wipe it down and set it up with colors that are more likely to be used in winter. I like to use a palette that has less chroma or intensity and is much more muted than I would normally use. Below is my Winter Palette, since I had recently aquired a full set of Mount vision Pastels through   Dakota Art Pastels, I broke the sticks I wanted to use in half, placing one in my plein air box and the other in reserve. This allowed me to put in 80 pastels instead of 40 into my plein air setup.

This is a Sienna Plein Air 11x14 box, I have a tripod that it sets on and I paint outside on warm winter days. When the weather turns colder, below freezing,  I'll set up a smaller box as pictured in the summer set up below and paint while sitting in my car. 

Listed below are colors used in my WINTER PALETTE they are all Mount Vision Pastels broken in half to fit as many colors in as possible. THey are not in order but as I picked them up and put them in my box.
